About Us
The Doctoral School of the University of Economics and Business in Wrocław began educating doctoral students on 1 October 2019 as a result of a reform introduced on the basis of the Act of 20 July 2018 on Higher Education and Science.
We provide students with comprehensive supervision and assistance in acquiring the necessary knowledge, as well as improving their research skills. We prepare doctoral students to obtain a doctoral degree, which is possible thanks to the implementation of our education programme and an individual research plan formulated during the first year of study.
Education at the Doctoral School of the University of Economics and Business in Wrocław is provided in the following disciplines:

General information
- The programme lasts four years (eight semesters) and is conducted on-site (not online). During their studies, doctoral students participate in compulsory classes held at the university (on weekdays, starting at 4:30 p.m.). Doctoral students also complete compulsory professional internships, teaching students.
- Each doctoral student receives a scholarship of PLN 3,570.50 gross per month for the first two years of study and PLN 5,500.50 gross per month for the next two years of study. Please note that persons who have already obtained a doctoral degree are NOT eligible for the scholarship.
- Admission is conducted on a competitive basis in individual disciplines by an admissions committee.
- Admission is conducted on the basis of Resolution No. 72/2025 of the Senate of the Wrocław University of Economics of 18 December 2025 on determining the rules for admission to the Doctoral School of the Wrocław University of Economics for the first year of study in the 2026/2027 academic year, together with the appendix.
- The composition of the Admissions Committee will be announced after its selection by the Rector of the Wrocław University of Economics.
- The admission limit to the Doctoral School for the first year of study in the 2026/2027 academic year will be announced after it has been determined by the Rector of the Wrocław University of Economics.

Who can apply?
A person who holds a master’s degree, master’s degree in engineering or equivalent may be admitted to the Doctoral School.
About the enrolment
- Read the rules – Resolution No. 72/2025 of the Senate of the Wrocław University of Economics of 18 December 2025 on determining the rules for admission to the Doctoral School of the Wrocław University of Economics for the first year of study in the 2026/2027 academic year, together with the appendix.
- Choose a potential supervisor, agree on the topic of your doctoral thesis and draft an Individual Research Plan. You will find a list of supervisors here soon, but feel free to contact the university researcher you would like to collaborate with.
- Register in the electronic recruitment system (IRK). The recruitment system has been launched, and the link to the recruitment platform is provided below.
Offer – IRK - Complete the required documents (please check list below) and upload scans to the IRK Electronic Recruitment System. Please check the list twice for the required language certificates. NOTE: We kindly request that you upload certain documents in two formats:.PDF and editable (.doc, .docx). ATTENTION – A person who uploads an incomplete set of documents or documents without a supervisor’s signature is NOT taking part in enrolment. This is a prerequisite for participating in the recruitment process. Documents sent by mail are not valid.
- Follow the information about your status in the 1st and 2nd stages of recruitment in your account in the recruitment system.
- Be ready for the interview and report for it on time.

List of required documents
PLEASE NOTE – only candidates who upload the complete set of required documents to the IRK (Internet Registration of Candidates) electronic registration system within the specified time limit will be considered for recruitment. Only documents that are in the electronic system will be considered for recruitment (they cannot be replaced or supplemented later). Those who qualify for the final stage of recruitment (interview) are required to submit a complete set of originals to the Doctoral School Office by the deadline.
New in the recruitment rules – a list of certificates confirming knowledge of a foreign language at B2 level!

In order to participate in the recruitment process, candidates are required to upload the following documents to the recruitment system by the specified deadline:
- application (questionnaire) for admission to the School (from IRK system)
- personal data form (from IRK system);
- copy of the degree certificate confirming the award of a master’s degree (professional title) or an equivalent title, including the diploma supplement;
- documents confirming the knowledge of English at B2 level at a minimum, including a certificate or diploma (including a supplement) confirming graduation – please check the list of certificates below;
- one photo for a student ID;
- list of publications and documents confirming research achievements made so far, including conference presentations;additional documents confirming the candidate’s predispositions to research work, e.g. certificates of completing research traineeship;
- certificates or other documents supporting the social and organizational activities,
- draft Individual Research Plan (IRP), including, a research problem, research objectives, research hypotheses/questions, research methods, framework schedule of research, literature review for the subject of research, possibilities of commercializing research (formula);
A candidate who has obtained a degree certificate confirming the completion of master degree studies abroad shall submit:
- original of the degree certificate confirming the award of a master’s degree (professional title) or an equivalent title, legalized or authenticated by an apostille
- diploma supplement;
- sworn translation of the degree certificate and its supplement to the Polish language,
- confirmation that the degree certificate authorizes its holder to start education at the School in the country of issue. The confirmation is not required if such information is placed on the degree certificate or its supplement. In the case such information is missing, the Recruitment Commission may ask the candidate to provide a document confirming that the submitted degree certificate authorizes its holder to continue education, issued by the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA), Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA),
- document supporting the recognition of the degree certificate or a certificate of exemption from the recognition proceedings, if required.
In addition, like other candidates, they also submit:
- documents certifying knowledge of English at a level of at least B2, including a certificate or diploma of completion of studies (including a supplement) in accordance with the rules set out in paragraph 6 of Senate Resolution No. 72/2025,
- a draft Individual Research Plan (IRP), which includes in particular: research problem, research objectives, research hypotheses/research questions, research methods, research schedule, literature review, research commercialisation opportunities (template – editable file available for download below) – .pdf and .doc. or .docx
- one passport-size photograph (.JPG),
- a list of publications and documents confirming previous research achievements, including conference presentations (.pdf and .doc. or .docx),
- additional documents demonstrating the candidate’s aptitude for academic work, e.g. certificates of academic internships (list of publications and documents confirming previous research achievements, including conference presentations (.pdf and .doc. or .docx),\
- certificates or attestations documenting social and organisational activities (.pdf),
- the candidate’s opinion and consent to the supervisor.
List of documents certifying knowledge of English
Documents confirming the English language competence at B2 level at a minimum shall include a certificate, diploma obtained in the course of studies commenced as of 1 October 2007 or another document confirming the knowledge of a given foreign language, comprising four language skills: listening, reading, speaking and writing, at B2, C1 or C2 level, issued by one of the following institutions:
- University of Cambridge, ESOL Examinations:
- B2 First (FCE),
- C1 Advanced (CAE),
- C2 Proficiency (CPE),
- B2 Business Vantage (BEC Vantage),
- C1 Business Higher,
- Certificate in English for International Business and Trade (CEIBT),

- ESOL Skills for Life – Level 1 (B2) or higher,
- Integrated Skills in English (ISE) – ISE II or higher,

- Educational Testing Service (ETS):
- Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), the Internet-Based Test (iBT) version – 72 pts. at a minimum,
- Test of English for International Communication (TOEIC) – 785 pts. in Listening & Reading and 150 pts. in Speaking and 160 pts. in Writing at a minimum,
- Pearson Assessment English:
- Pearson English International Certificate – paper and computer-based versions (formerly Pearson Test of English General (PTE) or London Tests of English) – Level 3 (Edexcel Certificate in ESOL International Level 1 – graded Pass, Merit, Distinction) or higher,
- Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) desktop application or online versions – 59 pts. at a minimum,

Information for foreign applicants who wish to study in Polish
Candidates are required to present a document certifying their knowledge of Polish (the language in which the course is taught) at a level of at least B2 (§ 15, 5). in accordance with the Regulation of the Minister of Science and Higher Education of July 30, 2025, on the types of documents certifying knowledge of the language in which education is conducted at university.

Recruitmet Committee Work Schedule
Recruitment to the Doctoral School for the academic year 2026/2027.
Candidates holding a Master’s degree, Master of Engineering degree, or an equivalent qualification may participate in the recruitment process.

Admission to the Doctoral School of the Wroclaw University of Economics is effected by entry on the list of doctoral students after the Candidate has fulfilled all admission requirements.
Scoring
Specification of the points to be obtained in the first, second and third stage:
